With the ancient stonework of town and country, its paved streets and renaissance mansions built around a church originating in the 9th century, Romans is renowned for the charm of  its historic medieval centre. Small romanesque churches and medieval towers are evidence of the time when the Dauphins reigned over the province. Pastoral chapels perched on the heights above the neighbouring villages still offer a pleasant resting place for walkers.
