Guidebook with maps/step-by-step

1 - From Place de la Fontaine (386 m), with your back to the town hall, take the road to the left for 25 m, then fork right.
This crosses the Chevillon and climbs 350 m to Les Perpoints (408 m). Continue straight ahead along the road, then, after the last house, along the narrow hedge-lined path. Continue straight ahead along the property lines.
2 - Turn left onto the wide track. It rises gently for 600 m.
3 - At the pass, go left, on the flank. Climb the wooded ridge on the left, continue up the slope and climb the Serre de
l'Âne.
4 - Start the steep descent through undergrowth, then cross a small rocky bar [ > view of Monts du Matin].
At the bottom, continue along the narrow wooded ridge to the Balot junction (597 m).
Variation in wet weather and on snow-covered ground: take the left-hand path; at Roussillon, stay on the flank before climbing to the right towards the "Fontaine".

5 - Climb the path on the right. Initially cresting, it then heads left towards the spectacular Pont des Sarrasins formation.

6 - After a tough 30-minute ascent, pass under the arch (> rockfall!) of the Pont des Sarrasins (750 m) and emerge at the bottom left via a narrow path.
exit at the bottom left through a fault in the rock. Follow the path to the right, initially along the edge of small cliffs. It then twists and turns away from the cliffs. At the bottom, turn left onto the wider path.
7 - At the "Fontaine du Corbeau", continue right along the ridge path for 1.8 km to a collet near the village (wooden
ruins of Château Rompu].
8 - Go down the path on the left and return to the starting point.
9 - Access across the ridge to Château-Rompu and the orientation table.
