Châteauneuf, land of stone!
Molasse is a soft rock found throughout the Bas Dauphiné region, where it is often the only building stone. Although other molasse quarries exist in the surrounding area, only the Châteauneuf site has enabled large-scale exploitation.
Since Antiquity, these quarries have supplied materials for major medieval construction projects such as Valence Cathedral and the collegiate church of Saint-Barnard in Romans. Still used for the construction of the Bourne canal in 1877, molasse went into irreversible decline from that time onwards, notably due to competition from cement.

Châteauneuf terre de fruit :
Châteauneuf, a cornucopia of fruit, offers a palette of stone, seed and shell varieties to suit all tastes.
