Description

Zësar Bahamonte likes to depict active women in roles and poses that differ from those typically assigned to them in art history or, more generally, in magazines and advertising.

After studying at the Seville School of Art and living for a time in Barcelona, Zësar Bahamonte moved to Montevideo, Uruguay, where he developed his artistic practice, drawing inspiration from the energy of the major Latin American muralist movements.

The work “Soléa” depicts a female musician—an acquaintance of the artist—playing the guitar. The instrument, composed of juxtaposed fragments, appears to have emerged from a Cubist work. The vibrant, warm colors, along with the figure’s ethereal presence—somewhere between a whisper and a dream—exude an atmosphere of peace and profound humanity.
