With the Groups and Conferences Department at Valence Romans Tourisme, your group can take a tour of the troglodyte houses in Châteauneuf-sur-Isère.

It was in Chateauneuf-sur-Isère that molasse began to be quarried on a large scale. This soft crumbly sandstone was used to build the great medieval constructions such as Valence cathedral and the town of Romans.
Today, this village is mostly known for the troglodyte houses dug into this rock, that have become a popular landmark for the region and the village is now known as "the village of a hundred troglodytre houses".
It is possible to visit these houses but only from the outside. On this tour, you'll discover the molasse hills that house these troglodyte dwellings.
Come and admire this atypical place, in a wooded and mysterious atmosphere.
